Message from the CEO
We at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute believe that with sound research there is hope… hope that one day we will have all the pieces necessary to solve the puzzle that is human memory.
Many of us have been personally touched by a neurological disorder among our families or friends. Most know the devastation that diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and depression can wreak. I believe the best testimonial to the suffering of our loved ones is an investment in a future free of these maladies.
The Institute has created a uniquely effective research environment. Our interdisciplinary memory and memory disorder division provides a basic science framework for targeted research and drug discovery. It also provides the basis for new diagnostic and brain science technologies. Our translational science approach seeks to bridge the gap—to move our discoveries from the labs to the patients.
The Institute has assembled the fundamentals necessary for success. Our leadership is visionary, our people committed, and the validity and importance of our mission is internationally recognized. We are demonstrating success. Our research has been the subject of recent world-wide media attention and we are working to move new findings into clinical trials.
It is estimated that over 4.5 million Americans are currently affected by Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. That number is projected to rise to 16 million by 2050. Please join us at our symposia, explore this website, learn more about our work, and encourage your friends to do so as well. Consider supporting our fundraising efforts, as the financial resources necessary to carry this research forward are as great as the challenges we face.
Time is of the essence and all of us, working together, can make a difference.

Mark A. Cochran, Ph.D.
