Partners in Science Program
Partners in Science is our annual community partnership initiative through which we fund key research programs at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute. This year, Partners in Science will support research in the areas of Target Identification & Drug Discovery, Diagnostics Development, Brain Science Technology, and Memory & Neurological Disorder Modeling.
Target Identification & Drug Discovery
Our existing and new research programs focus on memory mechanisms. Such studies provide the opportunity to identify drug targets which could lead to potential treatments for cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, attention-deficit disorder, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.
Diagnostics Development
Accurate assessment of disease modifications that result in Alzheimer’s disease will enable early intervention with existing drugs and testing of new drugs. Furthermore, we are developing a diagnostic test to provide a measurement of therapeutic efficacy, i.e. is a drug doing its job to benefit the patient?
Brain Science Technology
Our brain science programs are intended to provide new and more efficient tools for use in our discovery programs. For example, one recently developed technology creates a method to efficiently deliver drugs through the normally impervious blood brain barrier. These technologies are also made available to other organizations through licensing.
Memory & Neurological Disorder Modeling
This program prepares laboratory models of disease, allowing the scientists to confirm hypotheses of disease mechanisms and to further test means of correcting behavioral and genetic defects. Such models greatly aid in the formation of drug discovery strategies.
Gift Opportunities
Three levels of annual funding partnership are available for the BRNI Partners in Science Fund. They are:
Pioneers: $100,000 or more
Explorers: $25,000 - $99,999
Investigators: $10,000 - $24,999
BRNI Partners in Science sponsors will be recognized as a member of the Partners in Science program in our newsletter, as well as here on our website. For current Partners in Science sponsors, click here.
