VILLAFRANCA RESIGNS POSITION AT BRNI

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Dr. Ernest Villafranca has resigned from his position as Executive Director and CEO of Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, effective June 30, 2003. After almost two years with the non-profit Institute, he intends to return to the for-profit sector. “I enjoyed the work we have been doing at the Institute to accelerate the development of treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. There are few other places that hold as much exciting promise for new therapies as BRNI. I have missed having a more direct involvement with the pharmaceutical industry. However, I am looking forward to reforming those business associations as technology and medicine are reaching new levels of success,” says Villafranca.
Dr. Robert M. D’Alessandri will act as interim CEO for the Institute.
